All about Mystery !

Welcome and get ready for an adventure!  Today we will be focusing on the concepts and what goes into mysteries. Let's talk about settings What are the settings or locations where mysteries are filmed? Well. Mysteries are normally filmed in all different time periods. Mysteries are also normally set in various locations. You might mostly see forests, cemeteries, homes, buildings. But these locations can keep going on and on.  Not to mention,  Sometimes the mystery may take place in a magical or unusual place. Most mysteries use realistic or familiar places to make the viewer feel more connected to the story. The more connected you feel to the film, the more REAL it feels to you. As for the timeframe, mysteries are normally filmed in the day. Well, it depends on the TYPE of mystery. For a mystery with murder, it might happen at night or in the evening. Maybe even in the morning? You never really know. There is no specific timeframe, it depends on the storyline of the film....

Stage 1 of my final project

This is the first step towards the completion of my portfolio.  To start off, the kind of movie that I'm interested in creating would be an mystery movie. The basic genre convention of my movie would be dark, suspenseful and murder. It's a genre of film that revolves around the solution of the problem or a crime. Other opening sequences of my genre include background knowledge, showing the setting, the characters and what happened all the way up until current. An opening sequence reveals meaning and tone without giving too much away by giving little pieces of what's to come throughout the story, which makes the viewer interested in the storyline. Depending on the genre, not too much action goes on in the opening scene. There might be some action, showing what happened before, leading up until the start of the movie. The settings or locations of other films in my genre are, but are not limited to, forests, homes, buildings, theme parks, etc.. Almost any place that you can go...

Process of Christmas Music Video

On Monday December 6th, We started working on creating a music video. Well a Christmas Music Video. Before filming, we started by completing a layout of our videos. Including the name of the song we chose and a concept summary of our thought process for the video. Then we started the script. We completed the script using Studiobinder.com. Then it was time for the storyboard, Where we inserted pictures of our ideas and gave a detailed description about the camera angles, shot types, and even the actors that were going to get portrayed. Then it was time to film. And lastly, edit. Where we ended working on it, on Monday December 13th. Song: Rockin Around the Christmas Tree Duration: 2:08 My Overall Experience: My experience with creating this music video was very difficult. Although, yes. It's supposed to fun, because it's a Christmas Music Video. But it kind of was. The most difficult part for me was editing. It can be the simplest editor, and I would still find a problem. But h...

Editor Reviews (Video Editor)

Today in class we had to research and evaluate three video editors. In which the video editor that we decide on, we then have to make sure that it meets the minimum requirements. Minimum Requirements: - accessible  from anywhere (web-based)                                                                                         - ability to lay multiple tracks (both audio and video) - ability to strip or mute audio and natural sounds from video  - ability to collaborate with other users  Research and Evaluation: Throughout my research, I noticed that it was difficult to find a video editor that was free. Even though I typed in free video editors, almost every single one I picked on would ask you if you would like to start a free trial. Which at the en...

My Favorite Films Analysis

My top three favorite films are: Flipped: (2010) The genre of this film is a romantic comedy. It is about a girl named Juliana and a boy named Bryce, they are in eight grade.  They met in second grade and Juli instantly falls in love with her neighbor, Bryce. But Bryce didn't feel the spark like she did. He would avoid her at every chance he could get. But after six years, Juli starts giving up on him and focuses on other things. When Bryce's grandfather helps Juli out with her garden after Bryce made fun of it. He then realizes that he actually likes Juli the more he got to know her. I really liked that this movie showed both point of views on Juli and Bryce.  The opening scene is 3 minutes long.  The opening scene starts off when Bryce moves in across the street from Juli. She immediately draws a connection to him, but he doesn't, which tends to go on until middle school. It connects to the overall plot of the film by trying to convince Bryce after six years, of ...

Types of Movies/ Movie Genre

In Media Studies, On September 20,2021 we had been assigned to work on a project. Researching a film genre. I chose to work by myself and chose comedy. I really liked working by myself, I was able to work at my own pace and at my own convenience outside of school. Although, I was absent when, my classmates were presenting. I was able to do my own research and learn about the other different film genres. I learned that the genre "Sci-fi", incorporated science based themes into films. I also learned that "Romantic comedies tell a love story but just in a humorous way. For the project, I had to research what comedy was, the conventions, the social function, as well as the history and analysis of comedy and finally, I had to watch a movie that best represents the genre. I learned a lot from this project. The history of comedy is what fascinated me the most.  During this project, I kept changing around the movie I was going to watch and analyze. I also feel like I misunderst...
