Process of Christmas Music Video

On Monday December 6th, We started working on creating a music video. Well a Christmas Music Video. Before filming, we started by completing a layout of our videos. Including the name of the song we chose and a concept summary of our thought process for the video. Then we started the script. We completed the script using Studiobinder.com. Then it was time for the storyboard, Where we inserted pictures of our ideas and gave a detailed description about the camera angles, shot types, and even the actors that were going to get portrayed. Then it was time to film. And lastly, edit. Where we ended working on it, on Monday December 13th.

Song: Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

Duration: 2:08

My Overall Experience:

My experience with creating this music video was very difficult. Although, yes. It's supposed to fun, because it's a Christmas Music Video. But it kind of was. The most difficult part for me was editing. It can be the simplest editor, and I would still find a problem. But honestly, I don't enjoy making videos and editing them. I find it very much tedious. I'm not a creative person, when it comes to imagining something and making it happen. I feel like I had tons of ideas but what I lacked the most was making it come to life. And that's exactly what happened. I had every shot planned out, but going into the weekend when I was going to start filming, Some things came up and my filming got delayed until Sunday afternoon. I was only able to get a few shots in, the video didn't come out as I expected. But I tried my best in the time I had. You can't edit without shots. I rushed to complete the editing process, which probably wasn't very ideal. I worked alone, which I liked because I knew things would pop up during the week. Some things that I looked forward to was the shots of the old lady's dancing, I volunteer at a Senior Living place and I must say I was so excited to have the senior residents up and dancing and having fun. I brought some Rice Krispy treats and had them, decorate them with chocolate into snowman's, Christmas trees and really anything that they desired. They had so much fun, which made me so happy.

I enjoyed going through the process of creating this video on my own pace and understanding.

Layout:

The first thing I did on Monday December 6th, was creating my layout of the video. On a sheet of notebook paper, I was able to write down the name of the song that I have chose and the duration time of the song. Where I then ended up starting my concept summary, It was supposed to be a short response of how you were going to make the video. Mines ended up being pretty long, because I had so many ideas.

Script:

Then the script came along, I completed my script on Studiobinder.com, which was pretty easy because what I had turned in on my layout was the same thing my script needed. I just copied what I had wrote before. This process was fairly simple. I really liked using Studiobinder because I thought it made the process very fun and simple to create a script.

Storyboard:

Storyboard time! It was very fun to create the storyboard. I enjoyed it. I was able to insert pictures of my ideas, and then I copied what I had wrote on my script on to my storyboard. Which, again, made the process very easy.

Filming:

When the filming process came upon. I was pretty much stuck. None of my ideas involved being in school and filming. A lot of the ideas were made to be filmed outside and in various places. For example, the mall, neighborhoods, stores. These were the places that I thought brought the most Christmas spirit to me. I wanted to show the memories that I had, in my video. But to my dismay, I didn't get a chance to fulfill that. A lot of things happened throughout the week and I wasn't able to go to the stores, mall, and etc. I was then delayed to Sunday December 12, where I had to film and edit. It was very stressful I couldn't find the shots that I imagined. Not really find but create the shots. I rushed to try and get as many shots as I could that were still "Christmassy". I didn't even take into consideration, the meaning and timing for the shots.

Editing:

We edited on WeVideo.com , Like I have stated, I don't find filming and editing fun. Instead I find it very much tedious. Something else that also contributed to that feeling was not feeling happy about the shots I have created. I did specifically like the shots that included these old lady's dancing to "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree". It was my favorite shots. My shots didn't really get edited into a correct timing. Which I think made my video lack a lot. I don't know how to edit, it's never been something that I have desired. This was defiantly the hardest part.

Reflection:

I if I could go back in time, I would. I would change my timing and editing and my shots. I didn't take into consideration the type of week that I had planned and some of the things were unexpected. If I did, I think my video would have turned out much better. On a more positive note, I am happy about what I was able to complete, with the circumstances.

My video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdVyugwu8TQ

It was edited on WeVideo.com and then I exported it to YouTube, where I made it public.

I hope you enjoy the video, and happy holidays!!

Production Process

Welcome! Today I will be telling you about my production process. I was excited to finally start filming the week leading up. My group and I split up the number of supplies we wanted to incorporate in the film. I was in charge of getting the crime scene tape, which I found surprisingly at Home Depot. My other group members brought white chalk and fake blood. We finalized the supplies on a Friday, that way we were able to have time to get the supplies on the weekend.  Week 1:  February 21-25 We decided to start filming the day we came back. But because all of our shots are exterior shots, we had to wait until the next day to get permission to begin filming. On the second day, we did film but we weren't sold on our shots. It didn't look right, it looked rushed. We planned on doing the fake blood scenes first, and that was our first downfall. Starting off, we should have done the non-bloody shots first. We realized this in our second week of filming. But you have to make mi...

Stage 1 of my final project

This is the first step towards the completion of my portfolio.  To start off, the kind of movie that I'm interested in creating would be an mystery movie. The basic genre convention of my movie would be dark, suspenseful and murder. It's a genre of film that revolves around the solution of the problem or a crime. Other opening sequences of my genre include background knowledge, showing the setting, the characters and what happened all the way up until current. An opening sequence reveals meaning and tone without giving too much away by giving little pieces of what's to come throughout the story, which makes the viewer interested in the storyline. Depending on the genre, not too much action goes on in the opening scene. There might be some action, showing what happened before, leading up until the start of the movie. The settings or locations of other films in my genre are, but are not limited to, forests, homes, buildings, theme parks, etc.. Almost any place that you can go...

Mise-en-Scene

MISE-EN-SCENE  Although I was absent, when the majority of lesson was taught on Mise-en-Scene. I knew the meaning. Mise-en-scene means everything you see on screen and everything that is on the screen was there for a purpose. I understood that everything that was put on screen was there to make the viewer feel a certain way, it created a mood for the viewer. Mise-en-Scene also includes the props, lighting, costumes, design, and even make up, that play a huge role in a movies meaning as well as the audiences mood and reaction towards the film.  The project on "Photography Mini Project", really helped me understand the elements of Mise-en-Scene a little bit more.  This is the photo that I took, Using the elements of Mise-en-Scene: This project was very fun to do. I really enjoyed it. I was able to play around with the lighting of the photo, adjusting the temperature, and exposure. I was also able, to kind of capture like an illusion, that my subject was jumping into t...
